August 15, 2006splurge vs. steal or luxe vs. less. designers want to attract everyone’s business - no matter what social class or tax bracket you belong to - they want you to buy their stuff. who was the master of this step-down younger line? calvin klein, of course, who created his ck line in the 80s. there’s also donna karan - dkny was produced as a less expensive line.
nowadays, the choices are endless. prices are still not exactly steals but it was cheaper than the premier line, so to speak and you still get the taste of a designer merchandise. check out the following related products :

A lot of the times I find the ‘lesser’ priced items to be cooler. For eg. I like the D&G bag better than the Dolce & Gabbana version.
The Kors Michael Kors line carries some great shoes and there really isn’t much difference between Prada and Miu Miu- both lines are well-made and Miu Miu tends to be hipper.

wow you are so observant! i think most of them look equally gorgeous! although i have to say i’d prefer the dolce & gabbana bag to the D&G version (it kinda looks cheap). but all in all, the diffusion lines are doing great these days! (they used to suck so much hehe)
SOPHIA : i can’t even tell which is the premier label or not! somehow, the designs diffuse similarly to the lesser expensive line!
